What does natural hair coloring look like in a professional salon? Who is henna suitable for, and how does it differ from conventional coloring? Simona Sabolová, owner and hairdresser at Živa salon, shared her experience with VOONO natural dyes with us.
Tell us about Živa hair salon.
Živa is a place where I take care of my clients and their hair both the natural way and the classic way. I work with natural products as well as chemical dyes – always depending on the result the client wants and the current condition of her hair.
What services do you offer?
I do haircuts, highlights, chemical and herbal coloring, herbal masks and wraps, hair detox treatments, and gentle brightening with vitamin C.
What sets you apart from other salons?
I use natural dyes and do herbal wraps – something you often won’t find in regular salons.
Why do you use VOONO natural dyes?
Because it’s a great way to color, nourish, brighten, and improve the health of the hair all in one step.
How did you get into natural coloring?
I spent a long time looking for a natural dye suitable for salon use, and I came across the VOONO brand by chance.
In your opinion, what’s the biggest difference between classic and natural coloring?
With natural coloring, the biggest difference is the processing time – it’s longer than with classic chemical dye.
Who is henna coloring suitable for, and who would you not recommend it to?
I don’t recommend henna to clients with very coarse, dull hair and significant gray coverage who want 100% coverage – in that case, henna tends to tone rather than fully color. On the other hand, even toning gray hair can create a beautiful result, which is exactly why clients who already know henna well continue to choose it.
How does the coloring process work at your salon? Is it different from classic coloring?
I usually color at the sink, on wet hair, and the processing time is longer than with chemical dye.

How do you choose the right shade?
I choose the color based on the client’s wishes, the condition of her hair, and my own professional judgment.
Which natural color do you work with most often?
I most enjoy working with the shades Chestnut, Light Ash, and Strawberry Blondie.
What concerns do clients tend to have about natural coloring?
Clients often think that henna doesn’t last as long as chemical dye.
Why should customers come to you instead of coloring their hair at home?
Because it’s not just about coloring. It’s a ritual, a way to relax and unwind – a space where the client can switch off and clear her head.
Was there anything that surprised you while working with VOONO colors?
I was surprised that it really works 🙂
What would you tell someone who’s been thinking about natural coloring for a while but hasn’t taken the plunge yet?
I’d recommend looking for the nearest hair salon that works with the VOONO brand.
If you had to pick one VOONO shade that’s your personal favorite, which would it be and why?
My personal favorite is Dark Ash Blonde, because it beautifully tones highlighted or blonde hair.
